Charity Fundraising at the Heart of the Academy

Banbridge Academy pupils have been fundraising for a range of charities over the past month. The school were commended for raising a staggering £7,604 for the Children’s Hospice over recent years, most recently a Coffee Morning raised over £400. The Charity Committee collected over 100 shoe boxes to help bring a smile to a child on the other side of the world at Christmas. Brave souls (aka The Headmaster and Colleagues) had cold wet sponges thrown at them in aid of Children in Need, in total the school raised over £300 for Children in Need. In addition Phoebe Morgan and Bethany Nixon from the Charity Committee alongside Mr McLoughlin launched the school’s Lesedi Partnership. The Academy, and a number of other schools, has developed a partnership with the British Council to support the education of children from a township in South Africa. The Partnership is for 3 years and will ensure that the children have access to education which is unfortunately not provided as a statutory right for the children from the township.
