Irish Short Course Swimming Report

Banbridge Academy had four swimmers qualify for this event, which is an open competition with the children competing against all ages including adults.  There are heat swims in the morning and then finals in the evening, The A final is for the top 8 swimmers and the B final is for swimmers placed 9-16 in the heats.

Rachel Blemmings swam a best ever time in the 200m Breaststroke and was placed 50th, she was placed 59th in the 100m Breaststroke.

Ruby McNiff swam best ever times in the 400m FC finishing 61st and the 200m Breaststroke finishing 51st, she was also placed 60th in the 100m Breaststroke.

Kate Allenby swam best ever times in the 200m IM, 100m FC, 100m Fly, 100m IM, 50m Fly, 200m FC.  She qualified for the B finals in 200m IM, 100m Fly, 100m IM and 50m Fly.

Her placings were as follows:

200m IM – 11th

100m Fly – 11th

100m IM – 10th

50m Fly – 9th winner of the B final

Julia Knox swam best ever times in 200m Fly, 400m FC, 400 IM and 200m Breast.  She qualified for B finals in 200m Fly, 200m IM, 100m Fly and qualified for the A finals in 400m FC, 400m IM and 200m Breaststroke.

Her placings were as follows

200m Fly – 7th winner of B final and 7th fastest time overall

200m IM – 7th winner of B final and 7th fastest time overall

100m Fly – 16th

400m FC – 6th place

400m IM – 3rd and Irish Senior bronze medallist

200m Breaststroke – 8th
