Banbridge Academy Senior Dance Team

The Banbridge Academy Senior Dance Team’s interest and enthusiasm, fostered during their involvement in the recent School Production, led to a decision to enter a team into two Regional Competitions. As a result, they recently took part in two province wide Dance Competitions, the NICMAC and Ulster Dance and Fitness Championships and their involvement resulted in them winning Gold in the Musical Theatre section of the UDFC competition!

Year 12 pupil, Gemma Uprichard, obtained Gold in the Intermediate Solo section in NICMAC and Silver at the UDFC for a touching routine choreographed by her sister Amy Uprichard. The team also won Gold in Musical Theatre Dance at The Ulster Dance and Fitness Championships having competed against schools such as Regent House, Glenlola, Strathearn, Bloomfield Collegiate, Hunter House, Royal School Armagh and Ballyclare Secondary.

The girls, choreographed by Miss Ruth Reid, a former pupil of the Academy, have shown great spirit and an unwavering commitment and have worked really hard to gain recognition in their chosen field. Well done to all involved!
