GCSE Results 2016

The 2016 GCSE results achieved in the Academy are once again extremely impressive.  Of the 182 pupils who sat GCSE examinations this year, 61.7% of all entries resulted in the top grades A*/A, and when B Grades are included this figure rises to 85.8%.

97.8 % gained 5 passes at A*-C, including English and Mathematics, while the overall pass rate of 96.1% confirms that all of our pupils have worked extremely hard to fulfil their potential.

A very impressive total of 61 pupils, a third of the year group, obtained 9 A* or A Grades in 9 or more subjects. There were many superb performances, especially noteworthy were those of Sarah Dunn, Emma Johnston, Emily Middleton, Eve Napier, Emily Wright, Honor Atkinson, Patrick McNiff, James Neill, Emma Rutherford, Adam Turkington, Sarah Young, Deborah Cartmill, Emma Doherty, Scott Milligan, Scott Somerville who obtained 9 or 10 A* grades.

These results were produced by the talent, industry and commitment of our pupils, supported and encouraged by parents who today can feel justifiably proud of these accomplishments.  We are delighted for all our pupils as these results reflect tremendous strength in depth and we congratulate our young people on their outstanding achievements and wish them well for the future.

I should like also to commend my teaching colleagues who through their dedication, commitment and skill have produced these excellent results at GCSE, as well as the impressive A and AS Level results released last week.  Once again the examination results reflect the excellent standards of teaching and learning that exist in the Academy and I pay tribute to the professionalism of my colleagues.
