A Level Results – Banbridge Academy

Orla Thompson, Stephanie Rodgers, Brittany Sayers, Clara McNeill and Kate Gallagher

Banbridge Academy students receiving their A Levels results.  Brittany reflected on “an amazing 7 years” and Stephanie commented on how the Academy “had shaped them as people”.  Kate stated that Sixth Form had been “the best 2 years of her life”.

Our A Level results this year are the best ever obtained in Banbridge Academy.  The pass rate was an impressive 100%, with an outstanding 84.7% of pupils achieving 3 grades A*- C.  Out of the 183 pupils who entered these examinations 38 obtained a minimum of 3 A grades or better, with 4 achieving 4 A*/A grades.

Tiernan Watson (2A*, 2A, B)

Mr McLoughlin congratulates Tiernan on obtaining 5 wonderful A Level grades.  Tiernan joined the Academy for his Sixth Form studies from St Patrick’s College, Banbridge, who share in his success.  Tiernan thoroughly enjoyed the “amazing friendships and the welcome” he received at the Academy.  He has been accepted to study Computer Science at University College London.

These phenomenal results are testimony to the endeavours of all of our pupils, the commitment of the teaching staff and the support of parents. We congratulate all of our pupils on their fantastic achievements and wish them well as they begin the next stage of their careers.  These results would not have been obtained, however, without the dedication and commitment of the teaching staff of the Academy; their professional approach has undoubtedly underpinned this success.  The education of our young people involves a partnership and I want to pay tribute to my colleagues in our primary schools who have created the foundation for the success our pupils enjoy today.  I know our parents are delighted with the success of their sons and daughters and they too must be congratulated for their consistent support and encouragement as we work together to ensure high levels of success for our pupils.

Peter Rountree (A*AA)

Mr McLoughlin congratulates Peter on his excellent A Level results.

At AS Level the pass rate of 98.95% is the best ever achieved by our Year 13 pupils, with an outstanding 41.1% of all entries achieving an A grade.  These results provide an excellent foundation on which to build for A Level success in 2018.  Once again they reflect the hard work of our students, the diligence of our teaching staff and the ongoing support of parents.

Emma Warnock (3 A*)

Emma commented on how “she felt valued and enjoyed the outstanding teaching” at the Academy.  Emma is going to study Medicine at Queen’s University Belfast.

Our pupils continue to excel and we look forward to further success in future years.
