U14 Girls Junior Plate Hockey Final

Both teams, Banbridge Academy and Victoria College gave 100% on Tuesday 7th March in the Final of the Junior Plate. Near the end of the first half neither of the teams had scored after great attacking and defending from both teams, Victoria then won a short corner and executed it well to put the ball just out of reach of Seren. Going into half time Bann were 1 Nil down. This made the Banbridge girls come out into the second half even more determined. 10 minutes into the half, with a strong hit into the circle from Katie McDonald, Lynsey Orr got a touch on the ball and put it in the net. The score was now 1-1! Both teams were still playing to the best of their ability but neither were able to get around either goal keeper. Victoria won another short corner in the final few seconds. Thankfully with some great defending and amazing saves from the Seren Jones Banbridge managed to keep it 1-1. After a encouraging team talk from coaches Mrs Derby and Andrew Bennington Banbridge went out ready for the silver goal. 10 minutes felt like an enternity with both teams attacking hard. The score line stay 1-1 and we entered unfamiliar territory of strokes. The 5 who stepped forward for Banbridge did very well and with incredible saves once again from Banbridge keeper they won 3-1 in strokes.
