2nd XI 0-0; U16 5-0 Against Larne Grammar
2nd XI Girls Match Report. By Alex Adams (captain). After travelling a long journey on Saturday 26th, the 2nd XI were unable to sustain a win over Larne Grammar despite great effort from the newly formed team. Strong play in midfield from Alex Bassett, Rebecca Dougan and Emma McCrea in the first half kept play within the opposition’s half but unfortunately could not transpire into a goal. The game was dominated due to impressive short play with clean passing. The team attacked with more determination in the second half with good quick play in the centre and right of the pitch producing a strong shot at goal from centre forward Sophie Mount. This opportunity was narrowly missed and as more chances were presented Larne’s defence could not be defeated. Strong opposition was well defended by sweeper Ellen Wright and Louise Beckett in goal. No score was attained, 0:0.
U16 Match Report. 26/9/15. By Hannah Jordan (captain). Banbridge Academy 5-0 Larne Grammar. Friendly match. This game was a huge improvement from last week’s match, with an excellent score of 5-0 to the Banbridge girls, defeating Larne Grammar. The whole team played really well and we were elated to have finished the game with such an impressive score.
As the first whistle blew, we started the match with a high level of focus and determination. With great team work between the forwards and mid fielders, a quick pass from Charlotte Campbell led to Hannah Jordan’s deflection of the ball into the corner of the net. Our defence performed extremely well, in particular the Year 10 players Emma Cousins and Jennifer Hanna. With a sudden breakthrough of the Banbridge attack, Holly Hanna secured her second goal of the season. Then the tides changed and the Larne players raced towards our goal, but they were no match for our outstanding goalie, Rebekah Hillis. With half time approaching, Holly Hanna scored again from a penalty corner which made a half time score of 3-0 to Banbridge.
Throughout the second half the defence stayed strong as they made accurate tackles and stopped the Larne girls from gaining any more ground. As Charlotte Farson pushed the ball across the Larne goal, Hannah Jordan quickly slapped it into the net once again to score her second goal of the season. Next, Charlotte Campbell then received her own moment of glory as she scored the goal that was the last of the match. As the final whistle blew, we left the pitch feeling victorious.
We would once again like to say a special thank you to Dr Dobson for coaching us during the match, Philip Brown for umpiring, and Mr Smyth for attending the match also.
