Banbridge Academy Athletes represent Ulster at the Interprovincial Championships

Two Banbridge Academy athletes were selected to take part in the Interprovincial Championships held at Santry Stadium in Dublin last weekend; Bethany Nixon Year 12 and Marcus McNeill Year 11 were chosen for the 3000m and the 800m respectively due to their excellent performances at the Ulster Championships earlier in the season.
Marcus ran an excellent race and fell only 0.3 seconds short of his PB to finish in 7th place. Bethany, the Ulster champion in the 3000m, has had injury worries of late but was still able to take her place on the start line and despite a restricted performance due to these injuries she still ran bravely to finish in 9th spot for Ulster.
Both athletes are talented and committed runners and this selection for Ulster was just reward for all their hard work, both in and out of season. Ulster as a team put in a brave performance, but Leinster came out top in both the boys’ and the girls’ championships. The Ulster boys team claimed second place while the girls team took third.
