Banbridge Academy student, Kathryn Morton, selected to represent Team GB at the European Field Archery Championships

Following her recent success at the European Field Archery Championships, Year 14 student, Kathryn Morton, has been selected to represent Team GB again, this time at the European Indoor Archery Championships as a Junior Barebow. The Championships are being held in Lasko Slovenia, 13 – 20 February 2022.
This is the first time barebow has been included in a continental Indoor Championships so it will be an honour for her to attend this inaugural event. Kathryn is the only archer from Northern Ireland on the team and one of only fourteen archers selected by Archery GB to compete at the Championships. Shooting at the event will run for five days, beginning with an official practice day with equipment inspection and accreditation, followed by a day of qualification; this consists of 60 arrows shot in ends of three using a 40cm target face at 18m with the central 10 ring measuring just 4cm in diameter. The remainder of the week will be made up of the individual and team eliminations, culminating in finals for each bowstyle.
Everyone in the Academy is delighted at Kathryn’s recent selection and we send her off with our best wishes for a successful competition.
