Banbridge Academy v Grosvenor Grammar Friendly Matches

Match Report for 10/10/15 by Hannah Jordan.  Banbridge Academy 6 Grosvenor Grammar 0. This week the girls of the U15/16s team set out to play Grosvenor Grammar School. Our hopes were high and we were confident, this confidence and positivity reflected in our play. By the first half we were up by two goals, the first goal was a great goal scored by Caitlyn Lyness from a short corner and the second was excellently placed in the back of the net by Hannah Houston. We were determined to keep our lead in the second half. Our defence was put to the test as Grosvenor made a break through but our defence was strong and a great kick by goalkeeper Rebekah Hillis and a reassuring clearance by Rebecca Huey, in centre back, ensured a clean sheet for the defence. We had increased our lead by four more goals by the end of the match, another excellent goal from Caitlyn Lyness and an amazing hat-trick from Megan Creighton. A big thanks to Dr Dobson for all the work she puts into our team and Sheree for umpiring.

Match Report for 10/10/15 by Louise Beckett. Banbridge Academy 0 Grosvenor Grammar 0. Another early start for the Girls’ 2nd XI as we made the journey to Belfast. Our passing game had improved and it showed in the first half with mid-fielders Emma McCrea and Amy Carson working well with Alex Adams. The second half came with the two teams playing with more determination and both sides having shots on goal. Claire Anderson and Caitlyn Lyness had tested the Grosvenor defence well but sadly to no avail. Grosvenor found a foot in our circle but the short corner didn’t result in a goal as Katie Carson got her stick to the ball just before it crossed the line, keeping us in the game. Ellen Wright had an impressive run, getting the ball past many Belfast players but unfortunately the match ended goalless for both teams.
