Double Finals -Banbridge Academy Girls’ Hockey Teams Set for Stevenson Cup Finals
Banbridge Academy is celebrating an outstanding start to the season as two of its girls’ hockey teams prepare for the prestigious Stevenson Cup Finals at Lisnagarvey Hockey Club on Wednesday, 26th November.
The Under-14 Stevenson Cup is now in the third year of competition. Banbridge Academy U14 secured their second final appearance after a superb 2–0 victory over Ballymena Academy in last week’s semi-final. They will face Methodist College Belfast at 1:00 pm, aiming to go one step further and lift the trophy.
Meanwhile, the 1st XI Girls booked their place in the senior final with a hard-fought 1–0 win against Portadown College. Formerly known as the Superleague, the Stevenson Cup has seen Banbridge Academy reach the latter stages many times, but the elusive title has yet to be claimed. This year, they meet Royal School Armagh at 3:00 pm on the 26th, determined to make history.
Both teams have shown exceptional commitment, and teamwork so far this season, and the school community is very proud of their achievements. Supporters are encouraged to come along and cheer them on in what promises to be an exciting day for Banbridge Academy Girls’ Hockey.
