European Day of Languages at Banbridge Academy

It was European Day of Languages on Monday 26th September and staff and students celebrated it in style with several taking the opportunity to dress up and add some European colour to the day!
Year 14 Modern Language Ambassadors organised and lead a step-by-step French ‘crêperie’ class where Year 8 students received instructions in French on how to decorate and enjoy a French crepe, along with an insight into French culture.
Transferable skills across other subject areas such as listening and problem-solving skills were encouraged through a scavenger hunt for all students, along with an interactive video created by some native speakers for GCSE students.
To top it off, tasty croissants were on sale during break time and were soon snatched up by eager students. The Modern Languages Department is now looking forward to participating in Queen’s University ‘Hispanofest’ and ‘Francofest’ and has its sights set on competing well in the National Language Competition with GCHQ.
