Safer Schools NI App

Banbridge Academy is delighted to release the Safer Schools NI app to our school community, in partnership with the Department of Education. Form teachers will be making pupils aware of the app during registration this week and we are encouraging all pupils to download and explore the excellent guidance and advice offered within the app about the world of online safety.
A version is also available for parents/guardians. Some of the facilities that the app offers includes:
- Easy-to-follow steps to make your home and devices safer. Check this out in the Need-to-Know section, it’s a great place to start!
- Current online trends, threats, and risks to young people. This information is sent directly to your device!
- Information you need to know on social media and gaming platforms, helping you understand the latest buzzwords and learn how to set privacy and parental settings on platforms like Call of Duty, Snapchat, Instagram and TikTok
- Expert guidance to help you navigate important issues such as bullying, managing mental health, image sharing and harmful content.
- The Health and Wellbeing section will help pupils understand the basics of what makes a healthy relationship, what consent is and how to navigate and create healthy friendships
- The app will teach pupils how to spot if a fellow student is being bullied and will give advice on what to do and who to talk to if a pupil or a friend experiences this
