Senior Districts 2017

Banbridge Academy athletes had a good day at the recent intermediate and senior district championships claiming no fewer than six gold medals. Rebekah Nixon, in her final year, stormed to two golds in a remarkable and rare distance double in both the 1500m and the 3000m claiming two new school records as she went.

Not to be out done Elizabeth Little, a year young for her intermediate girls age category, won both the 100m and the Long Jump setting a new school record along the way.

Patrick McNiff backed-up his excellent cross country form with a resounding victory in the senior boys 5000m also setting a new school best, again Patrick is a year young.

Finally, Robbie Mathers threw well to win the Intermediate boys discus and he also claimed a school record.

Several other athletes represented the Academy at the championships and while all did well none were able to gain qualification to the Ulster Championships; Katie Little was 6th in Intermediate 300m, The Inter relay team were 8th in the final but set a new school record in their semi-final, Jacob Somerville was 10th in the intermediate High Jump, Tom Stannage set a new school record in the intermediate boys 100m to claim 6th and Adam Hanna threw well in the Inter Boys shot to finish 8th.
