Banbridge Academy Girls Hockey Awards Dinner

Banbridge Academy Girls’ Hockey held their annual awards dinner on Monday 22nd April and what a night of celebration it was, reflecting on the season and recognising their successes on and off the pitch.

They had a lot to celebrate; right through from the under 12s to 1st XI and five league titles, it has been a hugely successful season for all their teams.

With over 140 girls in attendance, it was a testament to the dedication of girls within the school to their extra-curricular activities.

A successful season across the board from Juniors; with the U12s winning their Mid Ulster league and Cup, alongside the Yr 8 Methody invitational tournament and the Oxford Tournament. U13A won their mid ulster league and were unbeaten all season in competitive matches.

The U14A team had the season that dreams are made of. They finished the season as unbeaten mid Ulster Cup Winners, unbeaten Mid ulster league winners, Junior Cup winners and ALL IRELAND CHAMPIONS. Every girl stepped up in the squad and did Mr McLoughlin, Banbridge Academy, their coaches, their parents, and themselves proud!!  And again, there were tears!

Their senior teams held their own with an equally strong season as the 4th XI make it to the final of the 4th XI cup and the 3rd XI making their plate final. The 2nd XI girls made it to the final of the McDowell Shield and won their Mid Ulster league.

Their 1st XI worked tirelessly throughout the season to become a powerhouse of a side that beat Portadown College to lift the Daphne Hall All Ireland Schools competition. They are to be credited for how they have been superb ambassadors of hockey and a credit to your school, parents, and yourselves all season.

A wonderful celebration and end to their season.
