Banbridge Academy Shines at Golden Dance Awards NI

Banbridge Academy celebrated a proud moment last week as it was shortlisted for High School of the Year at the prestigious Golden Dance Awards NI, held at the Culloden Estate and Spa in Belfast. The event, which honours excellence in dance across Northern Ireland, drew hundreds of attendees from the region’s top schools and studios.

The Academy’s vibrant dance programme, which includes; junior, senior and mixed teams as well as soloists, duets and trios performing styles from hip hop to lyrical and musical theatre, has grown in reputation for its commitment to creativity and performance excellence. Being shortlisted for such a coveted award is a testament to the school’s dedication to the arts and its students’ talent and hard work.

Adding to the celebration, Ards Dance Centre, co-founded by Banbridge Academy’s choreographer and past pupil Ruth Reid, took home the title of Ballet School of the Year.

A highlight of the evening was the presence of Carly Wilson, the newly crowned Miss Northern Ireland 2025 and a former pupil of Banbridge Academy. Carly, who won the title earlier this year following an inspiring journey as a cancer survivor, returned to her roots to present several awards during the ceremony. Her grace and poise added a special touch to the night, and her involvement was warmly received by attendees and students alike.

The Golden Dance Awards NI continue to spotlight the incredible talent and commitment within Northern Ireland’s dance community, and this year’s event was a proud moment for Banbridge Academy and its extended family.
