Emma Stewart Shines for Banbridge Academy at All-Ireland Schools Championships
Banbridge Academy’s Emma Stewart delivered an outstanding weekend of athletics at the 123.ie All-Ireland Schools Track & Field Championships, producing two medal-winning performances along with personal bests on the national stage.
Competing in the senior girls’ distance events, Stewart showed both determination and versatility across a demanding double. She claimed silver in the 1500m, clocking an impressive 4:33.77, before returning to the track to secure bronze in the 3000m with a superb 9:46.96. Both performances marked new personal bests, underlining her excellent form at the peak of the school athletics season.
Her success in the finals was built on strong qualifying runs earlier in the season. Stewart progressed confidently through competitions to comfortably secure her place in the senior girls’ finals. Her ability to navigate those early races efficiently ensured she had the focus required to deliver when it mattered most.
In the 3000m final, Stewart’s endurance and pacing saw her fight her way onto the third step. She followed that with another determined effort in the 1500m, where she ran a controlled and competitive race, staying in contention throughout before finishing strongly to take the silver medal.
This double medal performance represents a significant achievement for both Stewart and Banbridge Academy, highlighting her status as one of the leading school middle-distance runners in Ireland. With two personal bests and national medals secured, it was a weekend to remember and a clear sign of her continued progression in the sport.
