Academy Pupil is a High Flyer on the Rink

Banbridge Academy pupil William- John Hanna has had a number of busy competing at International and European Ice Hockey competitions.

Since Christmas William-John has been signed by the Fife Flyers at Under 17 level to head across the water and play for them at a more senior level, a reflection of his talent.  On the 24th May, WJ lifted the U17 Scottish Cup for Fife in a 5-3 battle with North Ayre and League Title.

To round up the month of May he played in his first UK/ GB Youth Select Showcase event at U15 level and finished runner-up.

In June he represented Scotland and defeated England 5-1 and won the EIHA series 4-2  with William-John receiving MVP for his efforts. He also finished 4th with Scotland in the EMF European Bratislava Classic.

Most recently, last weekend WJ was back home in Scotland playing and leading the Belfast Giants to the Scottish Ensign Ewart Cup.  William-John was instrumental in their win as he saved all the penalties in the final shoot out and was deservedly awarded player of the tournament.  Twenty four hours later he was selected as a Scottish National All Star for 2024 at U14, placing him in the top 5 players in Scotland and Ireland (and top goal keeper) for the 2023/24 Season.

What a season for the Academy pupil!
