Academy Pupil’s Success in Tetrathlon and Beyond…
Banbridge Academy pupil, Emma Stewart, competes in Pony Club Tetrathlon which comprises of 4 phases (swimming, running, pistol shooting and cross-country horse riding). She has developed these skills over several years and her interest in the sport has led her to be a very competitive athlete in Eventing Ireland, Athletic NI and British Shooting Schools Competitions.
The summer saw her take part in 3 prestigious competitions back to back; the Irish Pony Club Tetrathlon Championships, Pony Club Senior Regional Championships and Pony Club UK JCB Tetrathlon Championships, where she placed 2nd in the Junior Girls class of some 100 competitors. She achieved the fastest female run in all classes in all three competitions.
Emma competed again the British Shooting Schools Regional competition on Sunday 6th October, placing 1st and now qualifies for the National Competition again, which will take place in England in February 2025.
Emma not only competes in the quadruple sporting event but competes at a high level within athletics. On Sunday 20th October she qualified for the All-Ireland Championships by finished 2nd in the U16 NI and Ulster Cross Country Championships. This coming weekend Emma will also compete in an age category above her own in the U17 NI and Ulster Cross Country Championships with the hope of qualifying for the All-Ireland Championships in both age categories.
