BA U13 Football South Down Plate victory

U13 South Down Plate Final

Dromore HS 0 – 2 Banbridge Academy

The U13 boys’ football team have won the South Down Plate competition, running out 0-2 winners against Dromore High School, on Monday afternoon at Cheney Park.

The contest was a keenly fought affair. The Academy took an early lead through a well taken corner routine; Thomas Hamill rising well at the back post to head the ball into the bottom corner past the Dromore goalkeeper. On 20 minutes, Thomas McLoughlin pounced on a loose ball in the Dromore penalty area to drill a low shot into the bottom corner, giving the boys a well-deserved lead going in at half time.

The second half saw Dromore put in a determined effort to get back into the match, but the Academy team defended stoutly and had many opportunities of their own to extend the lead. In the end, the match finished 2-0, leaving the boys and their coach Mr Hanlon very proud of their achievement.
