Banbridge Academy Swimmers Shine at Swim Ulster Schools Cup

Pupils from Banbridge Academy delivered a stellar performance at the Swim Ulster Schools Cup and Gala held at the Aurora Aquatic Centre, bringing home a collection of individual and team medals.

Leading the charge for the Academy was Samantha Burns Atkin, who secured two podium finishes in highly competitive fields. Burns Atkin claimed a Gold medal in the 100m breaststroke, demonstrating her dominance in the stroke. She also showcased her versatility by earning a Bronze medal in the demanding 200m Individual Medley (IM).

The Academy’s strength in depth was on full display during the team events, where both the Junior Girls and Junior Boys medley relay teams secured Bronze medals in their respective 200m races.

  • Junior Boys Medley Relay Team: Darragh Jardine, Finlay Harrison, Archie Niblock, and Daniel Mills.
  • Junior Girls Medley Relay Team: Hollie Jennings, Ella Jennings, Isabella Burden, and Alice McKay.

The success of these young athletes continues Banbridge Academy’s rich tradition of excellence in the pool, with several swimmers achieving personal best times alongside their podium finishes.
