Pupils Explore Career Pathways at Banbridge Academy

Banbridge Academy recently held its annual “Pathways” Careers Fair, attracting a diverse range of organizations and providing students with invaluable insights into prospective career paths. The event, which took place on 18th September, saw participation from over 30 universities and colleges and 50 businesses, from local independent traders to giant multi-nationals.

Universities travelled from Scotland, England and the Republic of Ireland to be there and local Further Education colleges were well represented.

Employers from many different sectors made time to meet students and offer advice. There was a strong engineering presence, signifying its importance to our local economy, with Collins, Thompson, Spirit and Thales reminding pupils of the thriving aerospace industry in Northern Ireland. Those with an interest in health and social care were catered for with organizations like the Belfast Health Social Care Trust, the Southern Area Hospice, and Home Instead. In addition, pupils were able to hear from leaders in the agri-food and drink sector with major brands such as Coca-Cola, Hendersons and Pilgrims.

Delegates were most generous in giving up their time to participate in panel discussions and presentations on subjects as diverse as careers in the creative industries and the importance of China in the global economy.

The “Pathways” Careers Fair at Banbridge Academy continues to be a pivotal event, helping students make informed decisions about their future careers and education. Banbridge Academy looks forward to hosting more such events, fostering connections between students and the professional world.
