Success for Banbridge Academy in the final leg of the schools’ showjumping

The Banbridge Academy – Dunbar 75cm showjumping team took top honours at the final leg of the schools’ showjumping at the Meadows Equestrian Centre on Saturday 30 November 2024.

Lucy Baird, riding Sprite, Georgia Connolly riding Hollyberry and Maisie McCracken riding both Roxy and Springhill Quickstep finished with a zero score and winning time of 84.25 seconds, just 0.29 seconds ahead of Saintfield High School.

This team secured 8th place overall in the league, with Serena Boggs riding Clover and Megan Beattie riding Bridgit Jones competing in earlier rounds alongside Lucy, Georgia and Maisie.

In the individual competition, Lucy Baird and Sprite took third place overall in the league, having been placed consistently over the six weeks of competition.  A fantastic result given there were 113 competitors on the final scoresheet.

Also Juliana Nelson took first place for Banbridge Academy at the Inter-Schools Premier 1.10m individual event.  There was tough competition from thirty-five riders representing schools from all over Northern Ireland in the 6-leg TRI league.

Juliana and her pony Jim were delighted to secure the win for Banbridge Academy at the final.  An amazing achievement at the highest level for a School competition, especially as Julianna is only in Year 9.  Definitely a show jumper to watch for the future.
