Drama Society

Banbridge Academy has a long and distinguished history of staging School Productions. We take pride in the fact that we alternate between plays and musicals allowing our pupils to experience a broad range of theatre. Past productions have included plays such as A Comedy of Errors, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, A Christmas Carol, The Real Inspector Hound, Arsenic and Old Lace, The Importance of Being Earnest and Blithe Spirit, as well as musicals like Oklahoma, Guys and Dolls, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, The Sound of Music, in addition to variety performances which we have written ourselves such as Showstoppers and The Greatest Show.

Opportunities exist for pupils to take part not only as actors, singers and dancers but also as part of our Team Blackout, where pupils are trained in the backstage skills of Lighting, Sound, Stage Management and Costume.
School Productions in Banbridge Academy are whole school experiences with each production averaging 200 pupils and 30 members of staff participating in the rehearsal, staging and performing of every show.
