Banbridge Academy Celebrates Sporting Excellence at 2025 ABC Junior Sports Awards

Banbridge Academy once again demonstrated its sporting prowess at the 2025 Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon (ABC) Junior Sports Awards, held at the Craigavon Civic and Conference Centre on October 3rd. The prestigious event celebrated the achievements of young athletes, teams, and coaches from across the borough, and Banbridge Academy emerged as one of the standout schools of the evening.

Adam Green, a talented sailor representing both Banbridge Academy and Lough Erne Yacht Club, was named Junior Male of the Year for the second consecutive year. His remarkable season included clinching the Irish National Championship and placing 13th at the World Championships, showcasing his dedication and skill on the international stage.

The Academy’s commitment to team sports was also recognised, with the 1st XI Boys Hockey Team earning high praise. Under the guidance of Simon Jess, who was awarded School Coach of the Year, the team were crowned All-Ireland Champions, a testament to their hard work and strategic excellence throughout the season.

Banbridge Academy’s impact extended beyond hockey and sailing. The school had strong representation at the awards with 9 short listed nominees across 6 categories highlighting the depth of talent across multiple disciplines.  These accolades reflect Banbridge Academy’s dedication to fostering sporting excellence and encouraging students to strive for success both individually and as part of a team.
